The Museum is closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

How long does it take to go through the Museum?
Depending on your child’s age, which programs you attend, or favorability of one Playscape over another, the length of your visit may vary every time! We advise planning for 1-3 hours.
Where can we eat?
Eat Street Café is on the first floor of the Museum. You may bring your own lunch or choose from an excellent selection of affordable healthy meal and snack options. Admission is not required to dine in our café.

Does the Museum offer any discounts?

Can adults come into the Museum without a child?
For the safety of our guests, we do not allow adults without children, or children without adults. Unaccompanied adults may request a free tour from available staff.
Why do adults* need to pay admission?
The Museum’s mission is to create a community where children and their grownups learn through play. All of our Playscapes have been designed for adults and children to play and learn together.

Is the Museum handicap accessible?
The Museum and all Playscapes are handicap accessible. We also offer wheelchairs for use during your visit at the front desk.
Where can I nurse my baby?
You may nurse your child anywhere in the Museum, but if you prefer a more private space, there are rocking chairs in the back of the Clubhouse. There are microwaves to heat bottles in the A-Z Room and Eat Street Café.
Where are the restrooms? Are there changing tables?
Restrooms are on the first floor behind the front desk, immediately inside the Center for the Young Child (CYC), and in the back of the CYC, as well as on the second floor near the dance floor. All restrooms except the ones in the back of the CYC and the men’s upstairs have changing tables. The restrooms in the front of the CYC and near the front desk are equipped with changing tables.
Where can we keep our stroller and belongings while we play?
Designated stroller parking is located throughout the Museum. Lockers are available near the front entrance and next to CMD Fire Station No. 1. There are also cubbies in the entrance to the Center for the Young Child.
Can I bring my own food and drink into the Museum?
Certainly. However, to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our Playscapes, food and drink may only be consumed in the Eat Street Café or in the A-Z Room. Water and baby bottles are welcome throughout the Museum.
What are your quietest times to visit?
Mondays are reserved exclusively for members and regular visitors; we do not schedule any school group visits.
Wednesday nights during our extended evening hours are generally a quiet time to visit as well. The number of people visiting the Museum varies from day-to-day. If you call in advance, we will be more than happy to give you an estimate of how many school children and regular visitors we are anticipating that day.
How can my organization apply for a ticket donation?
The Children's Museum of Denver is proud to provide community organizations with admission tickets for fundraisers, giveaways and other promotional needs. If you are interested in applying for a donation, please see our Donation Guidelines.
How often do you clean the Museum and the toys?
The Children’s Museum of Denver has best practice standards and processes in place for the cleaning and disinfection of the Museum, including exhibit areas and other common areas, as well as “loose” interactive items (costumes, props and toys). These standards include:
- The Museum team cleans and wipes down exhibit areas (affixed and loose parts) throughout the day as well as at the close of each day, using disinfectant wipes and spray
- The Museum custodial team cleans common areas (bathrooms, hand rails, elevator buttons, etc.) on an ongoing basis throughout the day
- All cloth props (costumes, puppets, etc.) are machine washed on a regular basis using a high temperature sanitizing cycle — other items are run through the dishwasher on a regular basis using a sanitizing solution or cleaned by hand as appropriate
- Multiple hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the Museum
- Containers for “gummed toys” (toys placed in the mouth) are located throughout the Museum
What is the age range* for the Museum?
The Museum’s Playscapes and educational programs are designed for children age newborn through eight years. Our Center for the Young Child exhibit area is specifically designed for children age newborn through four years.

Can I leave and then come back the same day?
Of course. All you need to do is get your hand stamped at the front desk, or show us your receipt when you reenter the Museum.
Do you offer a pass for multiple cultural venues/museums in Colorado?
No. At this time we currently do not offer any passes to other cultural venues in Colorado. We do offer a membership that is reciprocal with over 100 other children’s museums throughout the country, the ACM Membership.
Why do I have to take my shoes off or wear shoe covers in the Center for the Young Child?
This Playscape is designed for children newborn through age four and many of the activities take place on the floor. Cleanliness is a priority, and by removing or covering shoes we create a cleaner and safer environment for our littlest visitors.
Where did the exhibit that was in WillitWorks go?
WillitWorks was designed as a place where our exhibit designers can test and prototype new and exciting Playscapes. The exhibit that was in here during your last visit is currently being worked on behind the scenes and may return in the future.
